Want to make a difference?
The easiest way to help the public understand epilepsy is to volunteer, and help out your local agency. The best way to do this is to call 1-866-EPILEPSY in Ontario and you will automatically be directed to the agency closest to where you are calling from. Help out with:
- - Program development and implementation
- - Fundraising
- - Public Education
- - Awareness Campaigns
- - Office administration
Not only is volunteering a great time, but you can also pick up skills that you will use throughout your life.

Purple Day
Founded in 2008, by a nine year old girl from Nova Scotia, Canada, Purple Day is an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide. On March 26, people from around the globe are asked to wear purple and spread the word about epilepsy. As March is international Epilepsy Awareness Month, you can make any opportunity a chance to inform the public about epilepsy, and show others with epilepsy that they are not alone.
Why? Epilepsy affects over 50 million people worldwide. That's more than twice the combined total as those affected by multiple sclerosis, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and Parkinson's disease.
Why purple? Lavender is the international colour for epilepsy.
Getting involved is easy. Wear purple and encourage others to do the same in support of those with epilepsy. Host a Purple Day party or fundraising event at your home, school or business, its remarkably easy, and it really works.
